We are women, who have climbed mountains
Our feet over stone and mud, over soft grass and tall trees.
Trees that trick and snatch the sight of light
We need the light, the god sent, to reach the peak from the valley.
By traveling up high,
We bring you Angai.

About Us
Angai is a social enterprise, located in the small village of Arsilingi, Odisha, that utilizes local resources to produce handmade soaps.
It celebrates the coming together of 33 women - from the Lanjia Saura tribe - with a purpose of carving an independent and sustainable livelihood for themselves, as a step towards one day overcoming the vicious cycle of poverty.
Our Name
Angai - / ˈɑŋːɡaɪ /
Angai, in the Saura language, means the moon.
The resemblance of the soap to the moon,
both off-white in color with some
imperfections, lent it its name.
Rich in Karanja oil, the soaps have antiseptic
and therapeutic properties.

Makers of Angai
Angai was established in April 2015 by Mansi Kabra, with funding support from Odisha Livelihood Mission and implementation support from Gram Vikas NGO.

Today
Angai soaps are currently being produced and sold locally to 6 tribal residential schools, within a radius of 10kms from Arsilingi. They have also found a comfortable spot in the local grocery shops.
Encouraging response from the schools and the enthusiastic local market continue to drive the enterprise today.
In due course, we aim to serve the urban markets too!
